At Enlightened Learning we encourage all forms of learning and love to see students of all grades succeed! Many of our students are homeschooled, and many of our tutors were in the past too! We offer private sessions and group classes tailored to your student's needs to study one-on-one or with their friends and fellow homeschool students. Classes can study areas anything from Art and History to Science and Math! We love to support charter school students and accept school funding. Come learn with friends! Explore math, reading and writing skills, and art! Classes are designed per grade and progress throughout the school year.

Math Class (3-8th Grade)
Students will learn about and practice various math topics throughout the school year within each grade level group. Grades 3-6th will cover lessons and problems in upper elementary math while grades 6-8th will focus on achieving pre-algebra level topics. Classes are 55 minutes long.
Book Club & Writing Class (Grades 3-8)
Developing strong readers is a key element to successful homeschooling. This book club is sure to inspire your students towards a love of reading. We will include many interesting stories from historical fiction to modern day stories and classics. Some books you can expect are Black Beauty, Wonder, The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl, The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs, and Little House on the Prairie. Whether your student loves to write or moans at the sight of a pencil or keyboard, this class will take their writing to the next level in a fun and interactive way. Students will learn a simple formula for essay writing that can encompass all styles of writing from creative writing and storytelling to fact-based papers. We will focus on using different elements for opening sentences, mastering punctuation, use of descriptive words, as well as clinchers and closing sentences.
Beginner Level Coding Class (3-8th Grade)
Students will get to learn beginner level coding skills and continue through the school year advancing their skills. This class requires a laptop (please reach out to us if you would like to use another device to see if it is compatible).
Clay and Ceramics Class (Ages 7-12)*
Students will learn how to work with ceramic clay using a variety of tools and techniques to create a textured and colored ceramic tile and a decorative hand-built bowl or vase. Students will learn how to condition raw clay, make a clay slab, and how to use a variety of tools to make different textures on a tile. This tile will then be decorated using underglazes and then fired in a kiln. The piece will then be coated with a clear glaze and fired again. This class will continue to incorporate skills and techniques such as using coils to build 3-dimentional objects and how to attach slabs of clay to build three-dimensional decorated boxed with lids. As students progress, learning the fundamentals to using ceramic clay they can move on to practice clay throwing and learn the basic skills on a pottery wheel. *This class is designed for students 7-12 but other ages may be permitted upon request to allow students to attend class with siblings and friends. Weekly classes are an hour and 25 minutes long and limited to 7 students. All art supplies and tools are included.
Animal Art Class (Ages 4-10)
Enlightened Learning is ALL about learning and making it FUN! We love learning about animals, science, doing art and making new friends, so why not do it all at once? Fun Fridays are 2 hours of learning fun where students get to learn about a cool creature each week, discuss interesting facts, ask questions, and interact with a real live animal! Students get to ask questions and do fun art projects about their new critter friends! Some of the animals include a Leopard Gecko, Tarantula, Scorpion, King Snake, Gopher Snake, Chinchilla, Diabolical Iron Clad Beetles, Roly Polys, Blue-Tongue Skink, Guinea Pigs, Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, Rabbit, Ball Python, Corn Snake and More! All art supplies included. Classes are held weekly and limited to 12 students. Homeschool Classes Run September-May.
US History (Grades 3-8)
We will begin with a review of the late 19th century and then launch into the exciting history of how our nation developed throughout the 20th century. Your students will get an up-close look at the geography of the United States and the details of the Civil War and Reconstruction era, Woman's Suffrage Movement, the Great Depression, WWI & WW2, the Industrial Revolution, and Inventions of the times. We will also focus on the political climate of the 20th century politics and presidents. Students will be expected to research and write at least one class presentation in this course.
Earth Science (Grades 3-8th)
Science is all around us, and in this exciting class your students will learn all they can about our environment. Through text, class discussions, and hands-on activities we will study everything related to Earth Science; plants, weather, clouds, and volcanoes as well as the earth's core and its age. The scientific discoveries of our planet are endless and exciting!
Chess Club (Ages 7-13)
Students will get to learn all about the game of chess! Students will learn everything from the foundations of playing to memorizing various calculated strategies. Students will get to learn how to play under pressure through timed chess matches and play against various students to apply their knowledge and skills of the game.
Sculpting (6-14)
Students will learn how to work with ceramic clay using a variety of tools and techniques to create a textured and colored sculptures and decorative pieces. Students will learn how to condition raw clay, and how to use a variety of tools to make different textures and manipulate clay forms through carving and pressure. Pieces will use underglazes and then fired in a kiln. The piece will then be coated with a clear glaze and fired again. This class will continue to incorporate skills and techniques such as using coils to build 3-dimentional objects and how to attach pieces of clay to build three-dimensional forms and figures. As students progress, learning the fundamentals to using ceramic clay they will continue to learn new skills apply them to new projects throughout the year. *This class is designed for students 7-15 but other ages may be permitted upon request to allow students to attend class with siblings and friends. Weekly classes are an hour and 15 minutes long and limited to 7 students. All art supplies and tools are included.
Glass Work and Jewelry Making (Ages 10+)
Have you ever seen beautiful handmade jewelry? Bracelets, earrings and necklaces? Or glass creations that have been worn or used for decoration? Come explore the world of glass work and jewelry making! You will get to learn the fundaments of working with glass, glass cutting, breaking and piecing together to be melted together in the kiln! Students will get to learn how to create glass sun catchers and decorative beads. These, along with other creations can be formed into beautiful jewelry and trinkets. You will also get to learn the fundaments of working with beads, wires, and learning to piece together metal and string with special pliers and tools! Classes are 55 minutes long and limited to 8 students.
