In this course, students will explore the foundations of ancient civilizations, from Mesopotamia to Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Through a combination of lectures, readings, and interactive activities, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the political, social, and cultural developments of these early societies. Topics covered will include the rise of agriculture, the development of writing systems, the formation of city-states, and the establishment of empires. By the end of the course, students will have a solid grasp of the key events and figures that shaped the ancient world, and will be able to analyze and interpret primary sources to draw informed conclusions about the past.
